We're undertaking a review of our Official Plan, a key document that guides the way our town grows and shapes the spaces we live, work, and play. It’s an exciting time for our community, and your input and involvement are vital as we plan for how to manage growth, meet our housing needs, and deliver essential services—today and into the future.

Community Engagement

Thanks to everyone who participated in our open house on March 5 for the Official Plan Review and Community Planning Permit System (CPPS) projects. If you couldn't attend, materials from the open house are available on this project page for your review.

Requests for Settlement Area Boundary Expansion

The deadline to submit a request for Settlement Area Boundary Expansion (SABE) was April 9, 2025. A total of 53 requests were received, representing 2,208 hectares of settlement area land and 605 hectares of employment area land. The How We Grow: Growth Options Report outlines the Town’s recommended strategy for accommodating population, commercial, and employment growth to 2051. Staff will continue to review eligible SABE requests and carry out further analysis before finalizing the recommended boundary expansions to be included in the Town’s Official Plan update.

Housing Needs Assessment and Affordable Housing Strategy

As part of the Official Plan Review, the Town has developed a Housing Needs Assessment to provide key data on Innisfil’s current and future housing needs. This information is guiding the development of an Affordable Housing Strategy, which will outline a vision, key directions, and actions the Town can take to support more affordable and attainable housing.

Review the Housing Needs Assessment and draft Affordable Housing Strategy and stay tuned for opportunities to provide your feedback. The final strategy will be presented to Council in late 2025.

Stay Informed

There will be many opportunities to follow our progress and share your input along the way! Subscribe to this page to hear about upcoming open houses, pop-up engagement events, and project surveys.

Hi there, thanks for reaching out. Planning staff, along with the Town’s planning consultants, have been working closely with InnServices to identify areas where new underground infrastructure will be installed in the near-term (next 5 years). InnServices' Master Servicing Plan identifies Stroud as a community that will be connected with new water and sewer mains in the near-term. Accordingly, Stroud is being recommended to Council as an area that can support additional urban growth during the lifespan of the new Official Plan.
