We're expanding our Community Planning System (CPPS) to apply across the entire town. Following approval of the CPPS for Alcona and the Lake Simcoe shoreline in June 2025, we're now updating and extending this tool to cover the rest of the municipality. The goal is to better implement the vision, goals, and policies of our Official Plan and provide a consistent, efficient planning framework for all of Innisfil.
Streamlining the permitting process
A Community Planning Permit System makes development approval processes more streamlined and efficient. It's also a tool that will allow us to better address community needs. The CPPS will allow zoning adjustments, minor variances, and detailed site plan applications to be processed as one application and approval process, instead of two or three separate processes.
This system provides:
Greater certainty and transparency for the community, landowners, and developers
More timely approvals for applications that meet standards and guidelines
Outcomes that more closely align with the vision of our Official Plan
A tool to help get housing to the market more efficiently
Thank you to everyone who shared feedback on this project. Council approved CPPS By-law 058-25 for Alcona and our shoreline area at its June 25, 2025 meeting through report DSR-098-25. We have now launched the process to expand the CPPS to apply town-wide in Innisfil.
We're planning to release the First Draft of the town-wide CPPS By-law for public review in early 2026.
Spring 2026: We'll be hosting a Statutory Open House and Public Meeting to present the draft town-wide CPPS By-law and collect public feedback. Stay tuned for updates!
Public Meeting for CPPS By-law Housekeeping Amendments
The Town is proposing updates to CPPS By-law 058-25 (Alcona and our shoreline area) to improve clarity, consistency, and alignment with our Zoning By-law and former CPPS ‘Our Shore’ By-law. These updates include text and map revisions intended to clarify how the by-law is interpreted and applied.
A Public Meeting will be held on March 18, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers at Town Hall (2101 Innisfil Beach Road) to discuss the proposed changes. Read the Notice of Public Meeting for more details and visit getinvolvedinnisfil.ca/planning to learn how to participate.

Welcome to the Town of Innisfil Community Planning Permit (CPP) By-law survey. The feedback you provide will help shape the overall objectives of the by-law and help us to understand your needs and area of concern when it comes to guiding the future development of our Town. A Community Planning Permit System (CPPS) is a tool that provides Innisfil with the ability to regulate and manage development in a more streamlined and flexible manner. It combines the zoning, site plan, and minor variance processes into one approval process. The Town already has an existing CPPS called “Our Shore”, which only applies to the lands along the shoreline. The Town is looking to expand the CPPS to be town-wide.
The graphic above provides an overview of how the current traditional process differs from the CPPS process.
