Have you ever wondered what's happening to the space between Lakeside Retirement and the Library's Lakeshore Branch? Well we have awesome news. We're developing a "downtown" Town Square like no other. Over the years, we've heard our residents loud and clear - you want more fun things to do close to home. Through the Town Square Public Engagement we heard that you wanted more places for social interaction, a splash pad in Alcona, a skating trail, and more unique spaces for you to enjoy. Whether that be a spot to have a picnic with your family, go for a walk with friends, or simply hangout reading a book, we have a spot for you.
This project will be a space for all Innisfil residents and guests, it will provide an additional public space for our growing community to allow residents more options to enjoy the outdoors and socially distance. It could also be the home of a celebration of people coming back together after this pandemic to rejoice the human connection and the importance of community.
The Park design can be seen below and in the Document Library.
Next Steps:
The Town has awarded the Design through the Design Build contract to Rutherford Contracting Ltd. and are working with their Design Build Team to finalize the detailed design, scheduled to be completed at the end of January 2021.
Construction is scheduled to commence early in 2021. Phase 2 works are included in the 2021/2022 Proposed Capital Budget, if approved the entire project could be completed by May 2022 with exciting summer amenities ready for summer 2022, while ensuring the winter elements would still be completed for use by the December 31, 2021 completion date.

Thanks to your community feedback we have a design schematic for our Town Square that includes walkable paths, water play features, an ice skating trail and plenty of opportunities for the community to gather.
The following Design Schematic was presented to Innisfil Town Council on May 22, 2019. It was created using community feedback from the online and in-person consultations conducted throughout April 2019. PMA Landscape Architects Ltd. developed the schematic. Download PDF version of the schematic.
We want to know what kind of opportunities are missing in downtown Alcona. Would you want to see an outdoor market here? A skating trail? Some firepits? A splashpad? Let us know below!
