Roads Being Paved This Summer 2020 🚧

CLOSED: This discussion has concluded.

The roads to be repaved this summer are:

·Partial depth milling and paving of Grand Vista Court

·Partial depth milling and paving of Isabella Street from Ewart Street to Whisker Avenue

·Partial depth milling and paving of 7th Line from County Rd 27 to 5th Sideroad

·Partial depth milling and paving of Cumberland Street

·Selective patching of 6th Line in various locations

·Selective patching of 9th Line in various locations from 20th Sideroad west approximately 40m

·Selective patching of 7th Line from Yonge Street to Lake Simcoe in various locations

The Town recognizes that the section of road on 7th Line from 20th Sideroad to Lake Simcoe was being designed for the widening of the road as recommended by the Town's 2018 Transportation Master Plan. The Town had competed a Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (MCEA) for the widening of 7th Line from 20th Sideroad to Lake Simcoe and were in the design phase of the project. The construction of this work would have commenced in 2021, however, due to the poor condition of the road, a holding strategy was to be implemented in the form of selective resurfacing. Selective resurfacing is where sections of roadway are milled out and repaved or also have granular material removed and replaced and grading completed before the section is repaved. The removal of granular material would depend on condition of the asphalt and its type of deformation. Following the tendering and award of the Selective Resurfacing contract, the Town adopted the Staff report for the Innisfil Mobility Orbit - Vision. In planning for Orbit, additional traffic is anticipated, which was not accounted for in the MCEA therefore, the Town decided to pause the design of the widening of 7th Line from 20th Sideroad to Lake Simcoe until additional traffic modelling could be completed for Orbit. This reinforced the need for a holding strategy in the form of selective patching.

In addition the work being designed on 7th line from 20th Sideroad to Lake Simcoe, the Town had intended to include the resurfacing of 7th Line from Yonge Street to 20th Sideroad within that project. With the design being put on hold, 7th Line from Yonge to 20th Sideroad would need to be included in the holding strategy. Localized areas of 7th Line from Yonge St to 20th Sideroad will be added to the selective resurfacing contract and will be completed by the contractor at the same time as the other work on 7th Line.

Work will begin mid-June and is scheduled to be completed in October 2020. It is estimated that once the contractor begins, it should take approximately one to two weeks per street. The Town will update once the schedule is known.

Work will be weekdays from 7:00am to 8:00pm. Increased noise and truck traffic is to be expected during this time.

There may be traffic disruption during construction but one lane will remain open at all times with proper traffic control in place. Residents are asked to refrain from parking on the street while construction is ongoing. Driveway access will be maintained, except while paving occurs in front of the driveway. For temporary driveway disturbances, the contractor will advise residents where they can park.

Covid-19 protocol will be in place and residents are kindly asked to maintain a safe distance from the construction zone.
