9th Line from 20th Sideroad to Leonard St.

CLOSED: This discussion has concluded.

The section of road on the 9th Line from the 20th Sideroad to Leonard Street is part of a larger project for Road Rehabilitation, including 9th Line from Industrial Park Road to Bowman Street and 20th Sideroad from Shore Acres Drive to the Town's Southern Boundary.

Originally, we planned to pave the 9th line in 2020 and bring some much needed TLC to this roadway in Alcona, but we had to make adjustments to get this important work done properly. We understand that this section of roadway is in much-needed repair and the safety of Innisfil residents is our number one priority. The changes outlined below were anticipated to take place in the fall of 2020, but the construction was postponed to Spring of 2021 due to multiple challenges in 2020 including delays due to Covid-19 and early winter weather conditions.

Construction for this project will begin mid-May 2021 and is scheduled to be completed in late summer of 2021. Once the construction schedule is available, notices to residents will be delivered prior to the start of construction with further information. Once construction begins, it is anticipated that the works will be completed within a month, weather permitting.

Improvements on 9th Line from 20th Sideroad to Leonard Street will include:

  • Paving from 20th Sideroad to Leonard Street
  • Construction of a shared-use pathway on the south side of 9th Line between Ralph Street and 25th Sideroad
  • Pedestrian crossing and signalized push-button crossing connecting the sidewalk on Ralph Street to the shared-use pathway on the south side of 9th Line similar to the one shown below.
  • Pavement markings from Ralph Street to 25th Sideroad in the eastbound lane next to the shared-use pathway to calm traffic
  • A paved shoulder from 25th to Leonard Street.

Please note that once the shared-use pathway is constructed, the no parking and no stopping by-laws will continue to be enforced from Ralph Street to 25th Sideroad. We encourage residents to drop students off using Ralph Street or any of the permitted parking and stopping areas shown in the map below.
