Community Spaces

We want to make sure that each community has a space that they can connect to. Whether it’s a park, library, rec center, or simply green space to go and have a picnic – it’s important to us that you have a “spot” where you feel like you belong. Creating vibrant and inviting indoor and outdoor spaces that connect you to recreation, culture, and the natural environment is a priority to us.

Are you able to take advantage of the facilities we currently have? Should we build more playgrounds? Can you access the lake easily?

We want to know how you're using the current community spaces and how they can be improved.

I have been to the outdoor parks in Cookstown when walking my dog. There seems to be lots of opportunity for an outdoor dog park, fenced in area. Would love that! Would love e library to do adult movie nights or trivia nights etc (check out Essa library branch ideas )

I love, love, love having the Rizzardo Center!! My son and I require regular monthly blood monitoring. We have also been on a very tight budget last couple years , so having to travel to and from Barrie every month to get bloodwork completed was financially difficult. So having The Rizzardo Health and Wellness Center right here makes life so much easier!!! The people at welcoming desk are very helpful as well! The Community Kitchen is looking amazing and I look forward to hearing what the plans are for how this will be utilized by our community members!!

My husband and I are retired and are very happy with the community spaces and their programs. He plays senior men's hockey, and for the first time this summer men's hockey was offered at the Rec Center in the summer as well as the rest of the year. He was delighted. I have been using the YMCA for aquatic programs, Silver Club, Spanish, and other programs for many years. The loss of Mildred at the YMCA was hard for many of us; she was a delightful personalty and hugely popular. Replacing her is a difficult challenge. The change rooms could be roomier. For the busy aquatic classes it can be a tight squeeze to get all in the locker rooms to be able to change at the same time!

went to "new" office of my doctor in Health Centre- The disability parking is not enough & not close enough for seniors/others with disabilities. It has a huge waste of space - very asthetic but wasted space. I have vertigo & when I came off elevator I almost passed out looking over railing to large drop

I have always gone to the library as has my family. My grandsons love to play and get information on the Libraries computers and my Husband and I for tapes and books. My husband and I go once a week for exercises and this library is a hub of adventure and entertainment for all.

You know you have built the best in the region at the Rec Center and the Rizzardo Health Center.Yes I often go to the Rec Center as that is the hub for the Silver Club seniors...My visit to the Rizzardo Center is amazing and greater still as it is home to my Dr, and I go there for the lab. All are friendly and welcoming.

The Innisfil library is the BEST! I love going there with my two kiddos and they love being there. There's always a great vibe there with lots of people taking part in different things... using the computers, reading, playing with lego. I enjoy the hot coffee and above all, every member of the team there is very kind and helpful!! Keep up the awesome work.

I love the Lakeshore Branch Library and have gone there often to: reserve and pick up books, attend seminars, attend community events. Great staff, great environment. The only thing that could make it better is if it were open more hours.
