The future of healthcare is here!

Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre (RVH) has an ambitious “one system; two sites” plan for the future. This plan will see the current North Campus, on Georgian Drive, double in size, while RVH also develops a new South Campus in Innisfil to meet the rapidly growing healthcare needs of south Simcoe County.

The new South Campus in Innisfil will be located at the southwest corner of Yonge Street and Innisfil Beach Road, south of Stroud.

The site is adjacent to the Innisfil civic campus and the Rizzardo Health & Wellness Centre where RVH currently operates a number of outpatient clinics including cardiac rehab, a geriatric clinic, paediatric asthma and an infant hearing program.

There has been unprecedented community consultation about RVH’s plan, with over 63,500 interactions with a broad range of stakeholders. Based on more than 44,000 comments, there is strong public support for redeveloping the existing North Campus and developing a new South Campus in Innisfil. Read more about the community consultation in RVH's Community Engagement Report.

When asked about a location for the South Campus, residents told RVH they wanted:

  • Easy access to Highway 400 with multiple access points from main arterial roads
  • Central to population centres in Innisfil, as well as Barrie
  • Close to Rizzardo Health and Wellness Centre, civic campus and future community health services i.e., physician offices
  • A location that minimizes impact on communities and the environment, particularly Lake Simcoe
  • Accessible by future public transit
  • Ability to begin construction and servicing (water and sewer), quickly
  • A flexible site that allows for expansion in the future

You spoke and RVH listened. The site at Yonge Street and Innisfil Beach Road checks all those boxes.

Timeline

RVH’s South Campus will be built in stages, beginning with an ambulatory ‘health hub’ and expanding to be a full-service hospital within 20 years.

We hosted a Community Listening Session on October 18th with RVH President & CEO Janice Skot, Innisfil Mayor Lynn Dollin and Deputy Mayor Dan Davidson. You can watch the recording here.
