Snow Angels

Snow Angels is back! Our Snow Angels recognition program is back in full swing to promote winter safety and neighbours helping neighbours. We want to celebrate those neighbours you know and love - the ones who spend the extra time and go out of their way to help others after a snowfall. We also want to preserve the small-town charm in Innisfil. With a community as dispersed as ours, the on the ground local connection we have to one another is critical to not only our well-being, but our safety as well.

Want to help?
Do you have neighbours who may need assistance with shoveling their sidewalk or driveway? Or maybe you're just feeling extra helpful? Why not be a “Snow Angel” and shovel for them? This is a great way to get exercise, help out others, and be a downright awesome neighbour.

1. Your Story - Let us know how your neighbour rocks and why they deserve to be an official snow angel.
2. Package Delivery - Once you've shared your story, complete the form below to let us know where to send your recognition package. Once submitted, we will mail out your envelope to give to your snow angel!

    My Husband, My Angel

by SLaflamme09, over 1 year ago

Some say it’s cliche, but my husband is truly the kindest man I have ever met. He is gone for 10 hours a day and still makes a point to keep our driveway clean as well as our surrounding neighbours, especially when the plow has gone by! He doesn’t even think twice about it, he just does what needs to be done and I am beyond grateful for him!

    Caring community

by DawnT, over 1 year ago

Unfortunately our elderly neighbour recently passed away. However, his family has been upkeeping his home. Despite their heart ache they always shovel or pole our part of the sidewalk when it hasn’t already been done. It’s always much appreciated!

    Great Neighbour

by AmandaM, over 1 year ago

This gift is going to my neighbour.  Every time he snow blows his driveway, he also does ours.  You would think this is a simple thing, because our driveways are attached.  But let me tell you, this is amazing for us.  We have two small children, and one of us works shifts.  We are almost never home, and when we are, we are exhausted.  He is amazing, and we make sure to always thank him when we see him.  This gift is much deserved.

    A REAL Good Samaritan!

by Tangogrey, over 1 year ago

I'd just like to acknowledge and publicly thank my awesome neighbour Tony for all the times he's gone out of his way to help me by plowing my driveway in the winter. I live on an inner street curve where because of how our snowplows navigate this curve, I always wind up getting the brunt of the street's snow (from either direction) dumped directly in front of my particular driveway. I'm at my wits end when this happens, as I am physically 'challenged' and barely able to manage the regular snow in my large(er) driveway...never mind the growing 'wall' of... Continue reading

    Polar Vortex and Snow

    by Jennykins09 , over 1 year ago

We recently moved to Alcona in July. Brand new subdivision and have the most thoughtful neighbour. Twice now without being asked he has removed the snow from the end of our driveway that the plow had left. Then last night as we were tucking our kids in bed we could hear him with his snowblower in our driveway. He even cleared the sidewalk. Amazing to have such a wonderful neighbour. Loving this community.

    Stroud Snow Angel

by Yvonne, over 1 year ago

My neighbour across from my house on Richardson St. is a real snow angel.  He isn't always home, and often doesn't come home every night yet on the real nasty days when he is home and the plow has piled the end of my driveway with the nasty heavy snow I come home from work and it is all cleaned up.  My spouse is often away on the road so it is just myself cleaning up the snow so I truly appreciate the help!

    Reward or not

by JenPiercey, over 1 year ago

My neighbour, Jeff, has been my snow angel for at least 10 years. He consistently comes and clears my driveway after a snowfall. I do not have to ask him, he simply just does it. I am so grateful for him and I try to reward him with homemade dinners for his family but I know he would do it anyway. I love the idea of this recognition and the community recognizing all the snow angels in town.

    The Most Amazing Neighbor

by Karen Frank, over 1 year ago

I used to (for 20 years) live in Gilford and have recently moved to Orillia.  That being said I noticed this Innisfil Program "Snow Angels" on the news and I am sending this note in regards to the MOST AMAZING neighbor next door to me back in Gilford.  Mr. Rob Pearson - on Bayshore Road had his snow blower on the go EVERY TIME it snowed and he did such a wonderful job on his own long driveway and then always did our long driveway as well.  No matter how long it snowed and how hard it endured.  He is... 3 Negatives =1 Positive!

by nikisdayhome, over 1 year ago

It was Monday Dec. 31st when we received the call. Our 17 yr. old daughter had been in a car accident and she said although everyone seemed O.K., it was really bad! Although my husband had been sick in bed, I asked him to go meet her as I knew he'd be calm but I'd be an emotional basket case! Sure enough, the car was written off but all involved seemed o.k. The next day, New Years, my husband was going right down hill and had no energy to move out of bed. A friend very generously brought by a... Continue reading

    My Special Neighbours!

by PattyHofland, over 1 year ago

I would like to commend both of my neighbours who live on either side of me. My name is Patty and I am the widow of Innisfil's Fallen Fire Fighter...Craig Hofland who died in the Line of Duty on August 3rd, 2012. During my husband's fight with cancer, my neighbours - Todd Sweeney and John Chiarotto would clear the snow in the winter and cut the grass in the summer. To this day, they still continue to help me out during these seasons. I wouldn't be able to accomplish these chores without them. I am very grateful for their friendship... Continue reading
