COVID-19 has shaken Innisfil to its core. In response to the initial shock of the pandemic, the Town of Innisfil implemented a variety of responses to relieve the financial burden for residents. Now, we are working with our community to strengthen relationships and supports to carry us through the next 18-24 months.

Community Needs Assessment

In May, the Town began a community needs assessment for the purpose of checking-in with the community and identifying emerging challenges as a result of COVID-19. We began the project by surveying residents and community partners to explore what their top concerns were over the short, medium, and long term, and identify how local programs and services have been adapted to respond to emerging community needs. Next, we hosted a series of virtual roundtable discussions that brought people from different organizations together to discuss our findings and gain more insight. In combination, we collaboratively identified 5 priority areas of community concern and potential action items to address each:

1. Mental Health

2. Access to Information (Connectivity, Digital Literacy, and Access to Technology)

3. Economic Security

4. Employment

5. Community Building with Safety Guidelines

After 4 months of engaging the organizations that serve our community, we are excited to now engage the general public and get your ideas and thoughts. We want you to know that we are taking steps to respond to the recommendations that were put forward by residents and community partners, but we also know that needs will continue to change, further action will be required, and that we cannot do this alone.

Where are we now?

We want you to contribute your ideas and share how you as a resident, local professional, or local organization have addressed the themes above. No idea is too big or too small. If you're not there yet but have some plans that are worth sharing with the community, let us know! We'll do this too. After all, we're in this together!
