June 8 Update

The Town of Innisfil is providing biweekly updates to enhance communications on the Killarney Beach Road construction project. These updates will outline ongoing and upcoming activities throughout the 2026 construction season. Our goal is to help businesses plan ahead, recognizing that construction-related disruptions to operations are expected in 2026.

Project update provided on: June 8, 2026

Project status

The Phase 2 road closure on Killarney Beach Road between Church Drive and Corner Avenue was installed June 4th, 2026.

In addition, daytime single-lane closures are occurring between 20th Sideroad and Church Drive to facilitate ongoing Phase 1 construction activities within the project limits.

Since the resumption of construction this spring, the project has experiences seven rain days.

Over the next two weeks, work activities will include Phase 1 multi use path (MUP) construction, ditch works, boulevard grading, driveway reconstruction and landscaping. Construction of the Phase 2 storm sewer and MUP will also be underway.

Current phase and potential impacts

Construction:

  • There is currently a closure of Killarney Beach Road between Church Drive and Corner Ave. Local Traffic (including business patrons) will be permitted access. All other traffic will be required to follow signed detours.
  • Properties with driveways impacted will receive a notice a minimum of 48 hours in advance.
  • MUP construction, ditch work, boulevard grading, driveway reconstruction and landscaping are currently occurring in the Phase 1 Project Area (20th Sideroad to Church Drive)
  • Daytime single lane closures are occurring to facilitate ongoing phase 1 construction activities within the project limits. Properties with driveway impacts will receive notice a minimum of 48 hours in advance.

Driveway closures: No new updates

  • As the project progresses this season, all reasonable effort will be made to maintain vehicle access to driveways. However, there will be some temporary interruptions to access during construction. Access will be restored as quickly as possible. Multiple temporary driveway restrictions and closures will occur at various times to facilitate construction activities, with durations ranging from short term (approximately 1 to 8 hours) to longer term (up to 48 hours). The contractor will have a full-time Public Relations Representative assigned to the project, who will provide 48-hour advance notice to property owners affected by driveway restrictions. The Public Relations Representative will be available throughout the 2026 construction season to coordinate access and respond to public inquiries.

Business support:

  • Business support is provided on an ongoing basis through the Economic Development Office through initiatives such as the DMZ Innisfil business support program, promotional efforts such as the "Taste of Innisfil" and "Shop Innisfil" campaigns, as well as through customized business support. For more information subscribe to the Town of Innisfil Economic Development newsletter or contact the Economic Development Office at business@innisfil.ca for more information.
  • In addition to the services above, the Town of Innisfil Communications & Community Engagement team is preparing a "Shop Innisfil" promotional video to ensure residents are aware that KBR businesses remain open during construction despite potential lane closures. This is expected to be complete soon.

Signage:

  • Requests for additional signage were received, and the requested signage was installed last week.
  • There are two types of signage which will be visible within the construction area throughout the project:
    • Statutory Compliance Signage: This is required by the Ministry of Transportation for all road closures in the Province of Ontario. Town staff do not have full discretion over the content of these signs.
    • Additional Town Signage: Additional wayfinding signage has been provided by the Town to assist in communicating detours, parking availability, and that businesses along KBR remain open for business.

Dust mitigation: No new updates

  • Dust mitigation will be addressed by the contractor for the duration of the project.
