April 13 Update

The Town of Innisfil is providing biweekly updates to enhance communications on the Killarney Beach Road construction project. These updates will outline ongoing and upcoming activities throughout the 2026 construction season. Our goal is to help businesses plan ahead, recognizing that construction-related disruptions to operations are expected in 2026.

Based on feedback received during our March 23 Community Meeting, we wanted to share a few quick updates:

  • Larger detour route signage will be installed on April 13, 2026
  • Further opportunities to promote local businesses throughout the construction season are being explored, such as a video to highlight that businesses are still open during construction
  • Dust mitigation will be addressed by the contractor for the duration of the project.

As the project progresses this season, all reasonable effort will be made to maintain vehicle access to driveways. However, there will be some temporary interruptions to access during construction. Access will be restored as quickly as possible.

Multiple temporary driveway restrictions and closures will occur at various times to facilitate construction activities, with durations ranging from short term (approximately one to eight hours) to longer term (up to 48 hours).

The contractor will have a full-time Public Relations Representative assigned to the project, who will provide 48-hour advance notice to property owners affected by driveway restrictions. The Public Relations Representative will be available throughout the 2026 construction season to coordinate access and respond to public inquiries. Project updates for April 13-27

Current Stage: Phase 1 - 20th Sideroad to Church Drive

Construction in the Phase 1 Project Area (20th Sideroad to Church Drive) is underway

In an attempt to accelerate Phase 2 construction, dewatering required in preparation for this construction will begin on April 13 in the Phase 2 Project Area (East of Church Drive to East of Corner Drive). During the dewatering process some driveways in the Phase 2 Project Area may be closed for several hours at a time. The benefit of undertaking the dewatering concurrent to the Phase 1 construction work is that it may have the impact of accelerating Phase 2 construction.

Impacts to businesses:

  • Closure of Killarney Beach Road. Access for local traffic only from 20th Sideroad to Church Drive with detours in place. A minimum of 48 hours advanced notice will be provided for driveway impacts.
  • Closure of eastbound lane – East of the Morgan Russell Arena & Community Centre entrance to 1295 Killarney Beach Road. Expect various driveway impacts within these limits. A minimum of 48 hours advanced notice will be provided for driveway impacts.
