The Town of Innisfil recently completed a redevelopment of the sports field at Huron Court Park. We are happy to share that MORE park improvements are coming as part of the annual Playground Replacement and Parkland Redevelopment Program.
Further park improvements will include:
Creating one large playground with two ziplines and playground equipment that meet the needs of infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and school age children
A new shade structure
New park fixtures and furniture including: a bike rack, seating, picnic table, and garbage cans
Line painting for the basketball court
Replacement of the existing asphalt walkway from Benson Street to the Huron Court parking lot
An additional asphalt walkway around the proposed playground area which will provide a more direct route to the existing walkways within the park; and
An additional asphalt walkway from the existing pedestrian walkway on Benson Street south to Alcona Glen Elementary School.
Parking on the north side of the Huron Court parking lot will be limited during the construction period. We will work with the contractor to fence off temporary walking routes, when possible, through the construction area to Alcona Glen Elementary School at different stages of construction.

As a resident that lives along Ferguson, I don't think putting washrooms close to someone's home is a good idea. In the summer time, with the heat and sun, it will stink! One centralized space with New playground is a great idea but please keep it away from the houses so that the noise level is kept down and the green space along the houses is kept alive. The playground needs to be moved further into the park and away from the houses as children like to frequently come along the fence line and yell, scream, climb trees, bushes and poke the dogs with sticks through the fences. I've had to go into City Hall to express my concerns and complaints regarding this issue.

Thanks for reaching out with your concerns. We originally had a concrete pad included for portable washrooms that we have pulled from the design. The portable washroom will go to a similar location as selected by our Operations Department just on the other side of the pine trees (red box below). The trees provide a buffer between the portable washroom and the homes.
The new play structures are placed to maximize the park's design and layout, taking in future space considerations. We're sorry to hear about children approaching the fence line, potentially damaging the plants and trees, and causing distress to your dog.
A suggested solution would be to consider adding additional buffers within your property to add space between the park edge and your fence to help prevent unwanted interactions. If this continues to happen, please call our Customer Service team at 705-436-3710

Would their not be enough room to put in a splash pad, this park has lots of children in the area and spend most of their summer days there, there is no shade so this would be nice to cool them down in such a big open space.

Thank you for your inquiry. Unfortunately, there isn't sufficient budget at this time to include a splash pad at Huron Court Park. There will be one constructed next year in the new Margaretta Park in the Sleeping Lion development and there is one at Town Square. Learn more: Margaretta Park - Town of Innisfil

Hi. I am a resident that who live a walking distance to the Huron Court Park. I am super excited with the improvement and also I would like to suggest that more trees could be planted at the back of the soccer field. It would be nice to have some shade to sit at the park and relaxing while the kid play. Thank you

Please move the new play structures further into the park, I'm getting children running up to the fence line destroying the plants and the trees and poking at my dog.

Great to see trail from Benson St. and bike racks. Some recommendations: trees for shade, benches or gathering areas, pollinator garden for a community group to plant and maintain? Will the bike racks also accommodate scooters? Also has there been consideration of swings suited for those in wheelchairs and other playground equipment for those with disabilities? Consideration of a walkway from Huron Court parking lot to the main trail to support walk a block to school? Thank you

Thank you for your comments! While at this time a pollinator garden isn't included in the project we are achieving your other suggestions within the design. We will be adding some trees, benches, a picnic shade structure, bike racks can be also used to secure scooters, and we are adding new trail connections to the school.
We work with the Innisfil Accessibility Advisory Committee for all our parks and ensure they meet requirements of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act and are inclusive.
What is an inclusive playground? A universally designed, sensory-rich environment that enables all children to develop physically, socially and emotionally. An engaging place that provides the just-right level of challenge and offers opportunities to succeed. A well-designed place that addresses all levels of ability. At an inclusive playground, children of all abilities can interact with each other and do what all kids want to do: play.
Included in the upcoming Huron Court Park playground is a molded bucket swing and molded bucket chair on the zip line, children in wheelchairs can transfer from their chair to the swing and have full support- see link Molded Bucket Seat Play Swing - Landscape Structures (playlsi.com)

Hello,
Our house backs on to Huron Park and we would love to see more trees in the park.
Are there plans to include more trees in the project?
Thanks!
