This summer, we launched a new online service so that residents could book their boat launch time. With COVID-19 reducing the number of activities and spaces for the public to enjoy, we wanted to give our community access to Lake Simcoe, while keeping everyone's health and safety in mind.
What changed as a result of COVID-19?
Before COVID-19, anyone could simply show up to a boat launch and access the Lake. Our new structured systemrequired residents to book their launch time in advance.
How and why did we make this change?
Following recommendations that came from the Province, we brainstormed ways to help boaters access this amenity while keeping the community safe. This meant that we had to lower the number of users and limit boat launch access to residents only. We also wanted to make sure that our online system was as convenient and easy to use as possible.
How can we prepare for the 2021 boating season? We want to hear from you!
What was your experience like with this book-ahead method? What were the pros? What were the cons? How can we plan better for next year? Share your thoughts with us by completing the survey below!
